The different types of ceiling light fixtures. Pendant lights: These work very well in the kitchen area; particularly, when used atop the kitchen island or even in the study when affixed right above the desk. Pendant lights are usually rectangular and suspended through the help of thin chains on the side which are attached to the ceiling. They provide just the right amount of illumination in a specific area of the room.

They can be made from wood, wrought iron, brass or other metals; since they have the provision to fix multiple bulbs, they can provide a lot of illumination.
